Which actor played Wesley Wyndam-Pryce?

Alexis Denisof played Wesley Wyndam-Pryce in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Denisof first appeared as Wesley during the show’s third season, when the Watchers’ Council assigned him to oversee Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane.

Wesley initially serves as a replacement for Rupert Giles after Giles is dismissed as Buffy’s official Watcher. He is highly educated and devoted to Watcher doctrine, but his lack of practical experience makes him seem pompous, nervous, and ineffective beside Buffy and Giles. Denisof deliberately played the early version of Wesley as an irritating, overly formal contrast to Giles.

The character’s story continued in the spin-off Angel. After losing his position with the Watchers’ Council, Wesley became a more capable and morally complicated demon hunter. Across Angel’s five seasons, he developed from comic relief into a central figure whose choices involved loyalty, sacrifice, grief, and ethical compromise.

Denisof’s real-life connection to the Buffy cast also became notable: he married Alyson Hannigan, who played Willow Rosenberg, in 2003. He later appeared with her on How I Met Your Mother as Sandy Rivers, a recurring television reporter.
