The Sunnydale High principal killed in Buffy’s season 1 episode “The Pack” was Bob Flutie.
Flutie appears as the school’s principal during the episode’s opening field trip to Sunnydale Zoo. He confronts the students involved in bullying and later investigates the disappearance of Herbert, the school’s pig mascot. After Xander and the other students become possessed by hyena spirits, the group attacks Flutie in his office and eats him.
The episode is the sixth installment of Buffy season 1 and first aired on April 7, 1997, on The WB. Its supernatural plot uses animal possession to exaggerate teenage pack behavior, bullying, and social dominance. The official explanation for Flutie’s death is that wild dogs got into his office, concealing the bizarre truth from the school community.
A common mix-up is Snyder, who becomes Sunnydale High’s better-known principal later in the series. Robin Wood is also a principal, but he does not appear until season 7, while Herbert Miller is not the principal killed in this episode.
