The robot duplicate of Buffy built for Spike was called Buffybot.
Spike commissions Warren Mears to construct the mechanical double during Buffy’s sixth season. He wants a substitute who resembles Buffy and will obey his commands, turning the robot into an unsettling parody of his romantic fixation. Buffybot looks and sounds like Buffy, but its behavior is exaggerated, literal, and emotionally artificial.
The character first appears in “Intervention,” when Spike uses the robot while Buffy and her friends are dealing with Glory. The Scooby Gang initially mistakes Buffybot for the real Buffy, creating both comic misunderstandings and serious danger. The robot later becomes useful to the group because Glory’s followers also believe it is the Slayer.
Buffybot is not the same creation as Moloch, Ted, or April. Moloch is a digital demon from season 1, Ted is a seemingly human robotic character from season 2, and April is Warren’s earlier robot companion from season 5. Buffybot’s distinctive role is as an artificial copy specifically modeled on Buffy Summers.
