Which actor played the zombie R in the 2013 film Warm Bodies?

Nicholas Hoult played the zombie R in the 2013 film Warm Bodies.

R is an unusually reflective zombie who cannot remember his full name and lives among other undead survivors at an abandoned airport. After meeting Julie, a living human, he begins to regain speech, emotion, movement, and other signs of humanity.

Warm Bodies was directed by Jonathan Levine and adapted from Isaac Marion’s 2010 novel of the same name. The film reworks the Romeo and Juliet pattern through a zombie-apocalypse romance, with R and Julie placed on opposite sides of a conflict between the undead and living humans.

The character is identified by the single letter R in the film, but the actor who portrays him is Nicholas Hoult. This distinguishes the performer question from questions about R’s name. The movie also introduces Bonies, more skeletal undead creatures representing zombies who have lost the remaining traces of humanity.
