Which 2021 Marvel film did Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton also direct?
Answer
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Destin Daniel Cretton also directed the 2021 Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
That film introduced Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Awkwafina as Katy. It was Cretton’s first feature directing project for Marvel Studios and demonstrated his ability to combine character-focused drama with elaborate action choreography.
Cretton’s connection to Shang-Chi is a useful way to distinguish him from the directors of the earlier MCU Spider-Man films. Jon Watts directed Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home, while Cretton directed Brand New Day. The two franchises remain separate within the MCU even though both feature Marvel superheroes.
