Which 2021 J.K. Rowling children’s book follows a boy searching for his lost toy?

The Christmas Pig is J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s book about a boy searching for his lost toy.

The novel follows Jack, whose favorite toy, Dur Pig, is lost on Christmas Eve. A new Christmas Pig helps Jack enter the Land of the Lost, a fantastical place where discarded and misplaced objects wait. Jack’s journey is shaped by his determination to find Dur Pig and by the emotional importance of treasured possessions.

The book was published in October 2021 and was illustrated by Jim Field. It is a standalone children’s story rather than a continuation of Harry Potter, although it shares Rowling’s interest in loyalty, courage, loss, and the power of imagination.

The title can be confused with The Ickabog, Rowling’s previous children’s fantasy novel. The Ickabog was published in 2020 and takes place in Cornucopia, while The Christmas Pig centers on Jack, Dur Pig, and the Land of the Lost.
