Which 2016 stage play did J.K. Rowling co-create about Harry Potter’s son?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling co-created the 2016 stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The story is set nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Its central characters include an adult Harry Potter, now working at the Ministry of Magic, and his son Albus Severus Potter. Albus becomes friends with Scorpius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy’s son, and the play explores their difficult relationship with their famous families.

Rowling developed the story with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. Thorne wrote the script, while Tiffany directed the original production. The published script was released as a special rehearsal edition in 2016 and later as a definitive edition.

The play premiered in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre. It is a stage production rather than an eighth Harry Potter novel, although it is part of the broader official Wizarding World story.
