Which 2016 stage play continues the story of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter characters?

The story behind the answer

The 2016 stage play that continues the story of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter characters is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The play is set nineteen years after the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Its central storyline follows Harry as an adult and his son Albus Severus Potter, who begins his own time at Hogwarts. Draco Malfoy’s son, Scorpius, is also important to the plot.

The story was conceived by Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne, while Thorne wrote the script. The published script was released in 2016, and the original West End production opened at London’s Palace Theatre that year.

Although it continues the characters’ story, The Cursed Child is a play rather than one of Rowling’s seven original novels. It has also been published as a script book for readers.
