Where were the 2026 European Athletics Championships held?
Answer
Alexander Stadium
The 2026 European Athletics Championships were held at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The stadium hosted the championship’s track and field programme from 10 to 16 August 2026. It had previously been renovated for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, making it a major athletics venue before the European championships arrived.
Alexander Stadium is in Perry Barr, north Birmingham. Its permanent stands seat 18,000 people, with capacity expandable to 40,000 for major events. The venue hosted the athletics programme at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The championship was the first European Athletics Championships staged in a British city. Birmingham had already hosted several major athletics competitions, including the 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships and the 2018 World Indoor Championships.
