Answer
27 April 2005
The Airbus A380 prototype completed its first flight on 27 April 2005.
The aircraft took off from Toulouse–Blagnac Airport with a crew led by Airbus test pilot Jacques Rosay. The flight lasted about three hours and 54 minutes, opening a demanding test campaign for the world’s largest passenger airliner.
The A380 was developed as a four-engine, full-length double-deck aircraft for high-capacity routes between major airports. Airbus delivered the first production aircraft to Singapore Airlines in 2007. The first-flight date is distinct from the aircraft’s public unveiling, which took place in January 2005, and from its first commercial service later that year.
