When did production begin on KPop Demon Hunters?

Production on KPop Demon Hunters began in March 2021. The project later became a 2025 animated feature produced by Sony Pictures Animation for Netflix.

The film originated from Maggie Kang’s desire to create a story inspired by her Korean heritage. She combined Korean mythology and demonology with the world of K-pop, building a premise around a girl group that secretly hunts demons. The project therefore required years of development before its final release.
