What was TLC’s debut studio album, released in 1992?

The story behind the answer

TLC’s debut studio album, released in 1992, was Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip.

The album introduced Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas as one of the most distinctive groups in 1990s R&B. It combined hip-hop, soul and pop with lyrics about relationships, independence and social issues.

The record produced major singles including “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg,” “Baby-Baby-Baby” and “What About Your Friends.” Its commercial success established TLC before their later international breakthrough with CrazySexyCool.

A common mix-up is confusing this album with CrazySexyCool, TLC’s second studio album, released in 1994. The debut title uses an intentionally stylized spelling, including multiple o’s and exclamation marks.
