What was the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2012 interactive website about Harry Potter?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s 2012 interactive Harry Potter website was called Pottermore.

Pottermore launched in 2012 as an online experience built around the Harry Potter books. Users could explore illustrated moments from the stories, be sorted into a Hogwarts house, receive a wand, and read new writing by Rowling about the wizarding world.

The site was developed with Sony and was initially presented as a digital companion to the novels rather than simply a conventional author website. Its features combined storytelling, community interaction, and access to supplementary material. Some early digital-book sales were also connected with the platform.

In 2019, Pottermore was replaced as the main official online destination by WizardingWorld.com, later known as Wizarding World. That rebranding means the two names are related but not interchangeable: Pottermore was the original interactive website, while Wizarding World became the broader official franchise site.
