The company now known as Ring was originally called Doorbot.
Jamie Siminoff founded the company to create a video doorbell that let users see and communicate with visitors remotely. The product and company were initially known as Doorbot before the business adopted the Ring name.
Siminoff appeared on Shark Tank in 2013 and sought investment for Doorbot. The negotiation did not produce an accepted deal, although guest Shark Lori Greiner made an offer during the episode. The television appearance nevertheless increased public awareness of the product.
Amazon acquired Ring in 2018. The transaction made the company one of the most notable businesses associated with a Shark Tank appearance that ended without a completed investment. The common mix-up is assuming every famous Shark Tank company received a deal on the show.
