Pottermore was the name of the website launched in 2011 as J.K. Rowling’s official interactive Harry Potter experience. It combined digital reading material with games, illustrations, and new writing from Rowling.
The site originally offered interactive moments from the Harry Potter books, allowing users to explore settings, receive a Hogwarts house, and participate in activities such as wand selection. It also became an official digital storefront for the Harry Potter e-books and audiobooks.
Pottermore was later redesigned and renamed Wizarding World Digital in 2019. The broader Wizarding World brand now covers Harry Potter and related material, while Pottermore remains the name most closely associated with the original website.
A common mix-up is treating Pottermore and Wizarding World as unrelated franchises. Wizarding World developed from the Pottermore platform and replaced its public branding.
