The Apple computer Steve Jobs introduced with the slogan “Hello” was the Macintosh.
Apple launched the Macintosh on January 24, 1984, at a meeting of the company’s shareholders. During the presentation, the computer appeared to speak through synthesized speech, saying, “Hello, I am Macintosh.” The moment highlighted the machine’s emphasis on a graphical user interface and ease of use.
The Macintosh 128K used a Motorola 68000 processor, a 9-inch monochrome display, and a mouse. Its commercial introduction was supported by the famous “1984” television advertisement, although that commercial aired before the product launch.
The Macintosh was not Apple’s first computer, and it was not the Lisa. The Lisa preceded it and also used a graphical interface, while the Macintosh was positioned as a more affordable mass-market computer.
