Steve Jobs’s biological sister, novelist Mona Simpson, wrote A Regular Guy.
Simpson and Jobs were biological siblings whose parents placed Jobs for adoption before his birth. They met as adults, and their relationship became an important part of Jobs’s family history. Simpson later wrote about a fictionalized father-daughter relationship in her 1996 novel A Regular Guy.
The novel is not a direct biography of Jobs, but readers and critics have often discussed parallels between its themes and aspects of Simpson’s family experience. Simpson is also known for novels including Anywhere but Here and The Lost Father.
This fact is sometimes confused because Jobs had an adoptive sister, Patricia, and because Simpson’s fiction is not the same thing as a memoir. Mona Simpson’s identity as Jobs’s biological sister and her career as a novelist are separately documented.
