What was the name of J.K. Rowling’s website launched in 2011 as an interactive Harry Potter destination?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s interactive Harry Potter website launched in 2011 was called Pottermore.

Pottermore was announced in 2011 as a digital destination built around the Harry Potter books. It offered interactive experiences, additional writing by Rowling, quizzes, and a way for users to be sorted into Hogwarts houses and receive wand information.

The site was developed with Sony and opened to the public after an initial registration period. It later expanded beyond its original interactive format and became a major online source for wizarding-world news and reference material.

In 2019, Pottermore was rebranded as Wizarding World. The name change means that current visitors may know the service by its newer title, but Pottermore is the specific name of the website launched in 2011. It is therefore distinct from the broader Wizarding World brand.
