What was the name of Chevrolet’s 2005 retro-styled compact wagon?
Answer
Chevrolet HHR
Answer
Chevrolet HHR
Chevrolet’s 2005 retro-styled compact wagon was the Chevrolet HHR.
Chevrolet introduced the HHR for the 2006 model year, although production and public introduction began during 2005. The name was commonly explained as meaning “Heritage High Roof,” reflecting the vehicle’s tall body and styling inspired by older Chevrolet trucks.
The HHR used a front-wheel-drive compact-car platform and provided a raised roof, flexible interior, and rear cargo area. Its appearance invited comparisons with the Chrysler PT Cruiser, another retro-styled compact vehicle, but the two models were mechanically distinct.
Chevrolet also sold a panel version of the HHR with solid rear-side panels for commercial use. Production continued until 2011. The HHR is separate from the SSR roadster-pickup, even though both used deliberately nostalgic Chevrolet design cues.
