What was the first pseudonym J.K. Rowling used for her Cormoran Strike novels?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling first published her Cormoran Strike novels under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

The first book in the series, The Cuckoo’s Calling, appeared in 2013 and introduced private investigator Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. The pseudonym initially concealed Rowling’s identity from the public.

The name combined Robert, a name Rowling admired, with Galbraith, taken from a family connection. The author’s identity became public after a linguistic analysis and subsequent reporting revealed the connection. Rowling then continued publishing the series under the Galbraith name.

The books are crime novels for adults and are separate from Rowling’s Harry Potter fiction. The series has been adapted for television as Strike, with Tom Burke playing Cormoran Strike.
