Miltiadis Tentoglou won the men’s long jump at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham with a jump of 8.44 metres.
The Greek athlete finished ahead of Switzerland’s Simon Ehammer, who reached 8.29 metres. Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Sarâboyukov won bronze with 8.26 metres, making the final a close contest among three athletes who all exceeded eight metres.
Tentoglou is one of Europe’s leading long jumpers and has repeatedly performed well at major championships. The event combines runway speed, take-off precision and control in the air. A small error at the board can turn an otherwise long jump into a foul, so consistency is essential.
The Birmingham result added another European outdoor title to Tentoglou’s international record. Long jump marks are measured from the take-off board to the nearest impression in the sand, and the longest valid attempt determines the final ranking.
