What was Amy Hunt’s winning time in the women’s 100 metres at Birmingham 2026?

The story behind the answer

Amy Hunt won the women’s 100 metres at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in 11.00 seconds.

The British sprinter took the title on the opening evening at Alexander Stadium, delighting the home crowd. Poland’s Ewa Swoboda finished second in 11.02 seconds, making the margin between gold and silver only two hundredths of a second.

Hunt’s victory was her first individual senior European title. Earlier in her career, she gained international attention in the 200 metres and won European under-20 titles in both the 100 and 200 metres in 2019. She also set a world under-18 record of 22.42 seconds over 200 metres that year.

A time of 11.00 seconds is often described as “11 seconds flat.” It is not the same as 11.02, Swoboda’s runner-up time, and it should not be confused with Hunt’s later relay performances at the championships.
