Norway won the mixed 4 × 400 metres relay at Birmingham 2026 in 3:09.62.
The Norwegian quartet set a championship record with the winning time. The mixed relay combines two men and two women, creating a race in which order, pacing and the final handover can be as important as individual speed.
Norway’s team included Karsten Warholm on the opening leg and Henriette Jæger on the anchor leg. Warholm, the world-record holder in the men’s 400-metre hurdles, gave Norway a strong start, while Jæger produced a powerful closing leg to overtake Great Britain and the Netherlands near the finish.
The result was also a national record for Norway. Jæger’s anchor split was reported as 49.42 seconds, helping the team finish ahead of two of the championship’s strongest relay nations.
The mixed 4 × 400 metres was one of the opening night’s five finals. Norway’s performance made it the only relay result needed to establish a championship record during that first evening session.
