What song does Rascal Flatts perform for Pixar's Cars soundtrack?
Answer
Life Is a Highway
Rascal Flatts perform “Life Is a Highway” for Pixar's Cars soundtrack.
The country-pop group recorded a cover of Tom Cochrane's 1991 song for the film. It plays during a major travel montage as Lightning McQueen and Mack cross the country toward California, making the highway theme especially prominent.
The song became closely identified with Cars and helped connect the movie to road-trip and automotive imagery. Tom Cochrane originally recorded the song, while Rascal Flatts supplied the version used in the film and on its soundtrack album.
Cars contains several other notable songs, including “Our Town” by James Taylor and “Real Gone” by Sheryl Crow. Those tracks are sometimes confused with the film's best-known road song, but “Life Is a Highway” is the Rascal Flatts performance.
