Niklas Kaul scored 8,573 points for silver in the men’s decathlon at Birmingham 2026.
Kaul finished second behind Germany’s Leo Neugebauer, who totaled 8,611 points. Norway’s Sander Skotheim took bronze with 8,433 points, making the podium a close contest among three leading combined-event athletes.
The decathlon awards points for performances in ten events over two days. The winner is the athlete with the highest aggregate score, not necessarily the athlete who wins the most individual disciplines.
This result is easy to mix up with Kaul’s earlier championship achievements or with the bronze-winning total. The Birmingham silver-medal score was 8,573 points, only 38 points behind Neugebauer’s winning total.
