What phrase is Buzz Lightyear famous for saying in Pixar’s Toy Story films?

Buzz Lightyear is famous for saying “To infinity and beyond” in Pixar’s Toy Story films.

The phrase reflects Buzz’s exaggerated identity as a space ranger. When he first arrives in the original Toy Story, he believes he is a real intergalactic officer rather than a toy, so his grand declarations are treated as genuine by him and comically by the other characters.

Buzz’s catchphrase is used repeatedly across the franchise, including moments of confidence, teamwork, and parody. It became one of the most recognizable lines associated with Pixar animation.

The wording also inspired the title of Lightyear, the 2022 spin-off film about the fictional space hero whose adventures supposedly inspired the Buzz toy. Lightyear is separate from the main Toy Story narrative.
