What nickname does Strip Weathers have in Pixar’s Cars?

Strip Weathers is nicknamed The King in Pixar’s Cars.

The King is a veteran Piston Cup racer modeled largely on the real-life stock-car legend Richard Petty. His blue design, number 43, and calm professionalism connect the character to Petty’s racing image, while his wife is known as Mrs. The King.

In the film’s climactic race, The King is competing for another championship alongside Lightning McQueen and Chick Hicks. Hicks causes a crash that sends The King into a dangerous spin, and McQueen gives up a likely victory to help him finish the race.

The character’s nickname is a title rather than his given name. Strip Weathers appears again in Cars 3, where he offers advice about racing and retirement. Richard Petty provided the character’s voice in the English version.
