J.K. Rowling gave the official Harry Potter fan website launched in 2011 the name Pottermore.
Pottermore opened to the public in 2012 after an earlier limited registration period. The site combined interactive features, information about the wizarding world, and new writing by Rowling. Users could be sorted into a Hogwarts house, receive a wand, and explore digital versions of the books.
The website was renamed Wizarding World Digital in 2019, and the broader Wizarding World brand became the main public identity for the franchise’s digital presence. That later name is why readers may remember Wizarding World rather than Pottermore. The original launch name, however, was Pottermore, making it the precise answer for a 2011 website question.
