What Madden NFL 10 animation technology allowed up to nine-man gang tackles?

The story behind the answer

What Madden NFL 10 animation technology allowed up to nine-man gang tackles? PRO-TAK did.

PRO-TAK was Madden NFL 10's new animation technology for more dynamic contact. It allowed as many as nine players to become involved in a tackle, including teammates who could join the collision and push the pile. The system was intended to make short-yardage plays, broken tackles, and fumble scrums look and feel more like crowded NFL situations.

The technology covered more than gang tackles. It also supported steerable tackles, a more dynamic blocking pocket around the quarterback, and quarterback avoidance actions. Madden NFL 10 paired those systems with Fight for the Fumble, a separate feature that turned some loose-ball pileups into contests for possession.

Madden NFL 10 was released in 2009 and was developed by EA Tiburon. Its two cover athletes were Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu, the first time the series used two players on one cover. Real Player Motion and FieldSENSE are names from much later Madden technology, while Frostbite is an engine name rather than the specific 2009 tackling system.
