What is the U.S. release date of The Lego Ninjago Movie?

The U.S. release date of The Lego Ninjago Movie was September 22, 2017. Warner Bros. Pictures released the animated film theatrically in the United States in 3D, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema formats.

The date was not the film’s original target. Warner Bros. initially scheduled The Lego Ninjago Movie for September 23, 2016, but that release slot was given to Storks. The Ninjago film was subsequently moved to September 2017, arriving after The Lego Batman Movie and before The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

The movie premiered several days earlier, on September 16, 2017, at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles. That premiere should not be confused with its general U.S. theatrical release. It also opened in Denmark on September 21, one day before its American release, reflecting its U.S.-Danish production background.

The film’s home release came later: it became available digitally on December 12, 2017, followed by DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray, and Blu-ray 3D on December 19. Those dates explain why December 15 can look plausible but is not the U.S. theatrical date.
