What is the title of the Hogwarts textbook credited to Newt Scamander?
Answer
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the Hogwarts textbook credited to Newt Scamander. It first appears as a schoolbook in the Harry Potter novels and is used by students studying the care and classification of magical creatures.
J.K. Rowling later published a real charity edition of the fictional textbook in 2001. The book is presented as a copy formerly owned by Harry Potter and includes humorous handwritten notes attributed to Harry and Ron. Proceeds supported Comic Relief, alongside those from Quidditch Through the Ages.
The title was then used for the 2016 film screenplay and film series. In that adaptation, Newt Scamander becomes a central character, played by Eddie Redmayne. The film is not a direct adaptation of the short textbook; it uses the fictional author and title as the foundation for a new story.
The three books are easy to mix up. Quidditch Through the Ages concerns wizarding sport, while The Tales of Beedle the Bard is a collection of wizarding fairy tales. Fantastic Beasts focuses on magical creatures.
