Answer
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the first screenplay credited to J.K. Rowling.
Released in 2016, the film is set in the Wizarding World but takes place decades before the main Harry Potter story. Rowling wrote the screenplay, making it her screenwriting debut. David Yates directed the film, and Eddie Redmayne played magizoologist Newt Scamander.
The title comes from a Hogwarts textbook mentioned in the Harry Potter novels. In the film, Newt is the book’s fictional author, and his arrival in 1920s New York begins a story involving escaped magical creatures and a conflict over magical secrecy.
The film became the first entry in a separate Fantastic Beasts film series. It should not be confused with the short companion book Rowling published in 2001 under the name Newt Scamander, whose proceeds supported Comic Relief.
