What is the title of the first Fantastic Beasts film, scripted by J.K. Rowling?

The story behind the answer

The first Fantastic Beasts film scripted by J.K. Rowling is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Warner Bros. released the film in 2016, with Eddie Redmayne playing Newt Scamander. The story is set in New York in 1926, decades before Harry Potter attends Hogwarts, and follows Newt after magical creatures escape from his case.

Rowling wrote the screenplay, making the film her screenwriting debut. The title comes from a Hogwarts textbook credited to Newt Scamander. In the Harry Potter world, Harry uses that textbook during his first year at school, but the film expands its fictional author into the central character.

The film began a planned series of three movies. Its sequels are The Crimes of Grindelwald and The Secrets of Dumbledore. The title is therefore sometimes confused with the in-universe textbook or with either sequel, but the 2016 movie is the first cinematic entry.
