The 2017 Pixar film that follows Cars 2 is titled Cars 3.
Cars 3 was released in the United States on June 16, 2017. It was directed by Brian Fee, who had worked as a storyboard artist on earlier Pixar productions and made his feature-directing debut with the film.
The story returns the series to competitive racing after Cars 2’s international spy adventure. Lightning McQueen faces Jackson Storm, a younger and faster competitor, and begins training with Cruz Ramirez at the Rust-eze Racing Center.
Cars 3 is the third feature film in Pixar’s Cars series. It is not the same as the Disneytoon Studios films Planes and Planes: Fire & Rescue, which are set in a related world but are not numbered Cars installments. No fourth Cars feature had been released by the film’s 2017 ending.
