What is the title of the 2016 film scripted by J.K. Rowling about Newt Scamander?
Answer
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
J.K. Rowling scripted the 2016 film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them about Newt Scamander. It was her screenwriting debut and the first film in the Fantastic Beasts series.
The story is set in 1926, decades before Harry Potter’s time, and follows Newt Scamander, a British magizoologist who arrives in New York with a case containing magical creatures. Several creatures escape, creating a chain of problems in the city’s magical community.
The film’s title comes from a Hogwarts textbook attributed to Newt Scamander. Rowling had previously published a short companion book with the same title for charity, but the film expands the fictional textbook’s author into a major character.
Fantastic Beasts is not a Harry Potter film adaptation. It is a related prequel-era story with a different main cast, historical setting, and plot.
