What is the title of the 2016 film screenplay written by J.K. Rowling about Newt Scamander?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling wrote the screenplay for the 2016 film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The film is set in 1926, decades before the main Harry Potter story, and follows magizoologist Newt Scamander after he arrives in New York with a case containing magical creatures. Eddie Redmayne plays Newt, while Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol are also central to the cast.

Rowling wrote the screenplay for the film, which was directed by David Yates. Its title comes from the fictional Hogwarts textbook of the same name, credited in the wizarding world to Newt Scamander. Rowling had previously published a short companion book using that title in 2001.

The film launched the Fantastic Beasts film series. Its sequels are The Crimes of Grindelwald, The Secrets of Dumbledore and additional planned stories that have not all been produced.
