What is the title of Pixar’s animated short series starring Mater?

Pixar’s animated short series starring Mater is titled Mater’s Tall Tales.

The series is part of Cars Toons and centers on Tow Mater telling stories about supposedly extraordinary adventures from his past. The episodes use a comic framing device: Mater confidently describes events that seem impossible, while Lightning McQueen often reacts as though the stories cannot be true.

Mater’s Tall Tales began in 2008, after the release of Cars and before Cars 2. The shorts include settings and situations far beyond Mater’s ordinary life in Radiator Springs, such as espionage, stunt driving, and outer-space adventure. Their deliberately exaggerated tone makes them distinct from the main feature films.

The series should not be confused with Cars Toons as a whole. Cars Toons is the umbrella title for Pixar’s Cars-based short productions, while Mater’s Tall Tales is the specific recurring series built around Mater’s storytelling.
