What is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s book about a Christmas wish?

J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s book about a Christmas wish is The Christmas Pig. It follows a boy named Jack whose favourite toy, a stuffed pig called Dur Pig, is lost on Christmas Eve.

A replacement toy, Christmas Pig, helps Jack enter the Land of the Lost in search of Dur Pig. The story uses a fantasy adventure to explore grief, attachment, courage, and the emotional importance children can give to familiar objects.

The Christmas Pig was Rowling’s first children’s novel after Harry Potter that was not presented as a fairy tale of the kind used in The Ickabog. It was published internationally in October 2021, ahead of the Christmas season, with illustrations and editions in multiple languages.

The title can be confused with Rowling’s earlier books because both The Ickabog and The Christmas Pig are standalone works outside the wizarding world. Neither novel continues Harry Potter’s plot or uses Hogwarts as its setting.
