What is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2016 play script about Harry Potter’s son Albus?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2016 play script about Harry Potter’s son Albus.

The play is set nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Its story follows Harry as an adult employee of the Ministry of Magic and his younger son, Albus Severus Potter, who begins attending Hogwarts and struggles with his family’s reputation.

Rowling developed the story with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. Thorne wrote the published script, which was based on an original story credited to Rowling, Thorne and Tiffany. The stage production premiered in London’s West End in 2016.

The title is often treated as a ninth Harry Potter story, but the work is a play rather than one of Rowling’s seven original novels. Its published script was released on 31 July 2016, Rowling’s birthday and Harry Potter’s fictional birthday.
