What is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2008 short story collection from the wizarding world?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s 2008 wizarding-world short story collection is The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

The book contains five fairy tales supposedly familiar to children in the wizarding world. The stories are “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot,” “The Fountain of Fair Fortune,” “The Warlock’s Hairy Heart,” “Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump,” and “The Tale of the Three Brothers.”

“The Tale of the Three Brothers” is especially important in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because it explains the origins of the Deathly Hallows. Albus Dumbledore is presented as the commentator whose notes follow each tale in the fictional edition.

Rowling first created seven handwritten illustrated copies. One copy was auctioned for charity, while a commercial edition was published in 2008. It is distinct from the companion textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
