What is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2008 Harry Potter short story collection?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s 2008 Harry Potter short story collection is The Tales of Beedle the Bard. It presents five wizarding fairy tales, including “The Tale of the Three Brothers,” which is important to the plot of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Within the story world, the book is left to Hermione Granger by Albus Dumbledore. Hermione translates the runes in the edition she receives, allowing the characters to understand clues about the Deathly Hallows.

Rowling wrote and illustrated the original manuscript edition in 2007. Six handwritten copies were produced; five were given to people closely involved with the books, while one was sold at auction for charity.

The published edition appeared in December 2008, with proceeds supporting the Children’s High Level Group, later renamed Lumos. It is distinct from the companion books Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages.
