Answer
The Tales of Beedle the Bard
J.K. Rowling’s 2008 charity collection of wizarding tales is The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
The book contains five stories presented as familiar children’s tales from the wizarding world. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows gives special attention to “The Tale of the Three Brothers,” which explains the legend of the Deathly Hallows and helps Harry understand the objects at the center of the final novel.
Rowling originally produced seven handwritten copies of the collection. One copy was auctioned in 2007 to raise money for the charity Children’s High Level Group, which later became Lumos. A commercially published edition followed in 2008, with Rowling’s notes and commentary attributed to Albus Dumbledore.
The title is sometimes confused with Rowling’s other companion books. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a textbook-style work, while Quidditch Through the Ages focuses on wizarding sport.
