What is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2008 charity book of wizarding textbook-style stories?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s 2008 charity book of wizarding textbook-style stories is The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

The book is presented as a collection of five fairy tales from the wizarding world. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Albus Dumbledore leaves a copy to Hermione Granger, and “The Tale of the Three Brothers” provides important information about the Deathly Hallows.

Rowling wrote and illustrated the original manuscript. Six handwritten copies were produced, with five given to people closely involved with the Harry Potter books. One additional copy was auctioned by Sotheby’s in December 2007, raising money for The Children’s Voice charity.

The published edition appeared in December 2008, with notes attributed to Albus Dumbledore. Proceeds benefited the Children’s High Level Group, later known as Lumos. The title is distinct from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages, two other fictional schoolbook-style works associated with Rowling’s charity publishing.
