What is the title of Elden Ring’s major 2024 expansion?

Elden Ring’s major 2024 expansion is titled Shadow of the Erdtree.

FromSoftware released Shadow of the Erdtree on June 21, 2024. The expansion adds a new land called the Land of Shadow, which players enter after meeting a progression requirement in the original game.

The expansion follows the trail of Miquella and introduces new areas, enemies, weapons, quests, and bosses. It is an expansion for Elden Ring rather than a separate sequel, so it uses the original game’s characters, systems, and account progression.

The title is sometimes confused with other FromSoftware downloadable expansions, such as The Old Hunters for Bloodborne or The Ringed City for Dark Souls III. Shadow of the Erdtree belongs specifically to Elden Ring.
