What is the surname of Cruz in Pixar’s Cars 3?

Cruz’s surname in Pixar’s Cars 3 is Ramirez.

Cruz Ramirez is introduced as a trainer at the Rust-eze Racing Center. She initially helps Lightning McQueen prepare for the modern racing circuit, using simulation technology, fitness exercises, and data analysis. Although Cruz begins as a trainer rather than a famous racer, she has an important personal connection to racing.

Cruz’s story develops when her own talent and ambitions become clearer. She admired racing but had been discouraged from pursuing it. As the film progresses, McQueen recognizes that she may be capable of competing herself, and their roles change during the climactic Florida 500.

The character is voiced by Cristela Alonzo in the English-language version. Her full name, Cruz Ramirez, is distinct from the surname of any major character in the first Cars film. Ramirez is also a common Spanish-language surname, which helps explain why it is sometimes misremembered as another Hispanic surname.
