What is the subtitle of the 2019 Lego Movie?

The subtitle of the 2019 Lego Movie is The Second Part, making the full title The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

The wording signals that the film continues the story of the 2014 original rather than presenting a completely separate adventure. It returns to Emmet, Lucy, Batman, Unikitty, Benny, and MetalBeard after the events of the first movie, while expanding the story around the conflict between the Lego world and the Duplo invaders.

The subtitle also reflects the sequel’s central idea: the characters’ world is being reshaped by events outside their understanding, and Emmet and Lucy must confront both external threats and changes in their relationship. It is sometimes mistakenly remembered as “The Next Chapter” or another generic sequel phrase, but those are not part of the official title.

Mike Mitchell directed the film, which was released by Warner Bros. Pictures on February 8, 2019.
