The short name of the hell-god villain in season 5 is Glory.
Glory is the abbreviated name used for Glorificus, a god exiled from a hell dimension. She shares a human body with Ben, a medical intern, because her essence is confined to that earthly form. The series usually calls her Glory, while her minions use more elaborate titles such as “the Glorious One.”
Her goal is to find the Key, a mystical energy nexus that can reopen the way to her home dimension. The Key has been transformed into Dawn Summers, whose blood can activate a dimensional portal. Glory’s search drives the main conflict of season 5 and leads to the events of “The Gift.”
Glory is not simply a powerful demon or conventional goddess. She is a hell-god whose abilities are weakened on Earth, and she must drain mental energy from human victims to maintain her strength. A common mix-up is confusing her with The Beast from Angel; they are separate characters. In Buffy, “Glory” is the accepted short form of “Glorificus.”
