What is the name of the wizarding school founded in the United States in J.K. Rowling’s world?

Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the wizarding school founded in the United States in J.K. Rowling’s world.

Ilvermorny is described in material connected with the Wizarding World and is located on Mount Greylock in Massachusetts. Its history begins with Isolt Sayre, an Irish witch who travelled to North America and established the school with James Steward in the seventeenth century. The school became an important part of the magical community in North America.

Ilvermorny has four houses: Thunderbird, Wampus, Horned Serpent, and Pukwudgie. These names differ from Hogwarts’ four houses and draw on North American magical traditions. Ilvermorny is featured most prominently in the 2016 film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and related writings. It is not the same institution as Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, or Castelobruxo, which are schools in France, northern Europe, and Brazil respectively.
