Bo Peep is the toy sheep herder who is Woody's close friend in Toy Story.
Bo Peep is based on the nursery-rhyme figure Little Bo-Peep. In the films, she is represented as a porcelain shepherdess figurine accompanied by three small sheep. Her crook and shepherdess costume connect her visual design to that traditional character, while her dialogue and actions give her a distinct personality.
Bo Peep is Woody's romantic interest in the early films and is part of Andy's toy group. Toy Story 2 explains that she was given away before the events of Toy Story 3. Toy Story 4 later reveals that she has lived independently and developed a more adventurous outlook.
Her role changes significantly across the series. She begins as a supporting member of the bedroom toys and later becomes a capable guide for Woody, making her return an important part of the fourth film's story.
