What is the name of the stage play based on a story by J.K. Rowling and set after Harry Potter?

The story behind the answer

The stage play based on a story by J.K. Rowling and set after Harry Potter is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play is credited to Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, with Thorne writing the script.

Its story begins nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The adult Harry works at the Ministry of Magic, while his son Albus Severus Potter begins at Hogwarts and struggles with the weight of his family history. Draco Malfoy’s son, Scorpius, is also central to the plot.

The play premiered in London’s West End in 2016. It was originally staged in two parts, designed to be seen on the same day or on separate performances. Later productions have also used a streamlined single-part version.

Although a published script exists, Cursed Child is a stage play rather than an eighth main Harry Potter novel. That distinction is why it should not be counted with the seven original novels.
